Juliana & Benedict Seo
Eating is important; especially eating your own food is indispensible. One of the things I miss in America is good Korean food. Because I was born and grew with it, Korean food is a part of me. Whether it is stinky Kim-Chi or Bulgogi, my mouth becomes juicy as soon as I think of them. We become what we eat, so I am Kim-Chi and Bulgogi.
Juliana & Benedict Seo are active members of St. Andrew Kim, the Korean parish in Cleveland. They live outside Akron and have a pond and many trees at home. Often I find myself enjoying sumptuous meals—absolutely authentic Korean food—in their house. Gathering around the table is joyful and sharing the meal is blissful. Because Juliana and Benedict are taking care of others out of the Christian love, their home is full of hungry visitors including me who experience a Eucharistic meal and go home in peace.
Last two months, I have visited them and learned how to cook Korean food. We agree that priests need to cook for themselves to live healthy. I have become a student again outside classrooms by writing down the recipe and watching the process. But, the more important thing is that I immensely enjoy the best dinner after the class!
I believe they are not just feeding the hungry students and visitors but nurturing souls to be good Christians. After being served with the sacrificial love, they become appreciative of the Eucharist as a sustaining and nurturing food from God. Juliana and Benedict are the Eucharistic Catholics who cook, share, and make others whole by feeding them with the authentic food and the godly love.
Juliana & Benedict are the seventeenth Christ.
