Elizabeth Lee
Last eight years, many people have looked after me without ceasing—my family and friends, including Elizabeth Lee. She is a member of St. Andrew Kim. From the beginning of the parish, she always serves the priests and takes care of the seminarians. Every Christmas, Easter and the birthday, I have received beautiful cards from her. Her constant support for me is the evidence of her faith in God and His priests.
I have been called to serve the faithful without reservation. But, without the living example such as Elizabeth, I would stray in my own desires. Elizabeth is a constant reminder of who I am and why I became a priest—to serve and to love.
Elizabeth with Juliana and Benedict Seo sang the happy birthday song to me a week ago. I felt deeply loved as well as humbled to know that they served me more than I can do to them. As Jesus came into the world not to be served but to serve, I have been alarmed again how much I have been cared and served by the faithful. They are my teachers.
“Lord, I commend those who teach me how to love and serve into your hands.”
Elizabeth Lee is the twenty-third Christ.
