Dr. Paul Wright is a cardiologist who once doubted his life purpose and flew to Mexico to meet Mother Teresa. He asked Mother what he needed to do to find his purpose in life and especially how to answer when he encounter God after death.
Mother said to him, “I have a specific answer for you that is in the Gospel of Matt 25. It says whenever you feed the hungry, give a drink to the thirsty, clothes to the naked and visit the sick and those in prison, “YOU DID IT TO ME.” These five words are the most important to hear when you die.” This was the life-changing moment to Dr. Wright.
Now he works for the poor and gives a talk which he did in our parish St. Anthony today. He was such an inspiring speaker who talks from the bottom of his heart. I won’t forget his message, “Don’t forget you are touching, you are touching humanity when you serve the poor.” After the talk, he invited me to have a dinner with him some day which I thought very meaningful and special. I see God’s providence today to give me courage and hope to move forward as a compassionate priest who should be a tool to serve the poorest of the poor like Mother Teresa.
I just got a e-mail that says I am accepted to the master program of Nonprofit Administration at John Carroll University. It seems God wants me to be reminded of my mission to serve the poor as I move on. Praise the name of the Lord forever.
