I am born to be a football player in Korea. Football is the easiest game in the world and everybody loves it except the United States. They call football soccer which had confused me because their football is not football in a sense of using hands most time and sometimes kicking. Since there is a game called handball, what about calling American football kickball instead of football?
Anyway, I have reconciled with the term football through God’s grace! And today I found myself standing in the middle of the football field at John Carroll’s opening football game. I didn’t know what I was about to getting into. It looked easy to kick a football to the poles which I had never done before.
Here Fr. H.Paul standing and listening to the cheers, "Go, Fr. H.Paul!" runs to the ball and kicks it! I easily made a goal at first. And for the second contest, the yards had been extended. Here again I ran and kicked it. Failed! But at the second trial, I made it! For the last contention, it looked like a 25-yard goal, I ran and kicked it…failed! I heard the people’s sighs which left a mark in my soul. And Fr. H.Paul’s first football attempt was over!
The sun really got me hot today!
