So a legitimate question would be what the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary means to you? Do we celebrate the day just because of her patroness-ship of the country? It may be true, but there are more reasons behind it. When angel Gabriel greeted Mary, “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with you,” it revealed her special grace from the first moment of her existence by reason of the merits of her Son, Jesus Christ. She was conceived without stain which means she was in a state of sanctifying grace from the beginning of her life, so that she was prepared to conceive the Son of God who was free from sin. This is a theological reason for the Immaculate Conception.
Spiritually Mary was the model of discipleship. Her life was not guaranteed by the fact that she gave a birth to the Son of God. Rather, she had to endure so many sufferings including watching her beloved son crucified on the cross. Without faith, it wouldn’t possible for the simple woman to accept all agony. Above all she practiced her faith as a disciple of Jesus Christ, so she was with the apostles when the Holy Spirit came upon them. In this sense, Mary’s life gives us hope when we find ourselves be struggling and suffering. Probably that’s why the song “Let it be” touches many heart as we celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary who always took the Word to her heart, contemplated it and realized everything would be fine in God. She had faith to say, “Let it be done according to your will!” This is the message of the Mother to her sons and daughters.
“Let it be. You are precious in God’s special plan for you.
Let it be. You won’t be lost in the Son of God who gives all the blessings we need.
Let it be. You will find the peace that only God can give.
Let it be as I did it for you.”
This is the message from Mom in heaven.
