Sr. Anthonia
Have you seen the movie called “Into Great Silence”? The Grande Chartreuse called Carthusians is considered one of the world’s most ascetic monasteries. Sr. Anthonia is a Carthusian in Korea. She lives in prayer and silence. Carthusians don’t talk to keep silence and spend most time in their cell to pray in solitude. I am Sr. Anthonia’s spiritual companion who is exceptionally allowed to correspond with her through letters.
Often I am surprised how simple her heart is and how deep her understanding of God is. We were friends before, so I thought I knew her. But, after a while, I see her becoming a pure bride of Jesus Christ to whom she has totally dedicated herself. I believe her silence and prayer would be the reason to keep our falling world still is around.
She has nothing in our eyes, but she has everything in God’s eyes—God’s most beloved daughter. Her inner peace coming from the unchanging cross is the light of the world. I am excited to visit her once I go back home. We will spend a long time to talk about how God touches us, how happy our lives are, and what we could do because of the amazing love.
Sr. Anthonia is the nineteenth Christ.
