I have read a book called “Into The Silent Land” written by Martin Laird. It is a guide of the Christian practice of contemplation. It is a simple and yet profound analysis to understand how to get to the silent land through contemplation. I benefit a lot.
My friend in Korea is a Carthusian sister, the order of St. Bruno. They are known for the strictest rules of silence and prayer. Sr. Anthonia sent me a mail and asked how I pray. It was a provoking question that makes me look into my prayer life. I actually pray daily, but I still feel there are more I have to understand and learn. Along the way, I encountered “Into The Silent Land” that was very helpful to evaluate my prayer life. So I translated the epilogue of the book for Sr. Anthonia because she is like the young man in the story and is to take her first vow in January 2011. The translation follows.
